Some forums recommend "Versions SVN" for Mac, but I have no idea of its compatibility. Please contact if you want to archive/export data you wish to keep before 1-June-2020. Can anyone confirm this is a good choice, or any other clients that may be a recommended. The site will be decommissioned and shut down on 1-July-2020.
#Visualsvn client for windows for mac
The downloads page of tortoise SVN recommends Smart SVN for mac clients. If so does anyone have a SVN that they recommend out there for Mac? My friend has never used SVN before, but i made a pretty clear point for how it is useful and have them very interested in the version control concept.

Can I (as long as i use the same versions of svn) use tortoise for all my windows work, and have my friend use a different client on their Mac and both work on the same repositories on the same Visual SVN server? The current version of VisualSVN is compatible with 1.8.x, 1.9.x, 1.10.x, 1.11.x, 1.12.x, 1.13.x and 1.14.x versions of TortoiseSVN (excluding nightly TortoiseSVN builds numbered as 1.14.99.x).

Program, design, debug and deploy with VisualSVN as your silent partner that safeguards your source code. VisualSVN Server is a free Apache Subversion server package for Windows. The server package contains a stripped-down Apache HTTP Server, a Subversion server, and a Microsoft Management Console configuration interface, for a one-click installation of a Subversion server on Windows platform. In order to setup VisualSVN, you need to download and install the latest stable version of TortoiseSVN Subversion client. VisualSVN virtually eliminates the management of your project source code files within Subversion.

My new project is a two person team with a friend, who is a die hard Mac user and is my web designer for the project (I am backend, and they are front end).Īt the end of the day, if I use VisualSVN as my server. VisualSVN is a Visual Studio plug-in that integrates Subversion (SVN) and TortoiseSVN seamlessly with Visual Studio. This has always worked perfectly for me and my teams. I have always used VisualSVN as my SVN server and Tortoise SVN as my SVN client on Windows systems.
